Catavento, which means “weathervane” in Portuguese, represents both Portugal’s emblematic rooster and the crucial importance of the wind for the country’s winemakers. Wind circulation helps to warm the vines in cold weather and keep the fruit fresh when the sun shines brightly. The Lisboa Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) is one of the most important Portuguese wine regions in terms of vineyard area and wine production. Formed by gently rolling hills with low relief, the Lisboa PGI extends from the capital of Portugal northwards, following the coast, in an area not exceeding 40 km wide. A region with a temperate climate influenced by the Atlantic, with relatively mild, cool, and humid summers.
